Land Grabbing: Kaduna resident seeks Gov. Uba Sani’s intervention

Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

A Kaduna resident Samuel Owoyale has sought the intervention of the state Governor Uba Sani to halt the intimidation and harassment of land grabbers who have made his life a living hell.

Oyewole said the land grabbers’ intimidated him over his plots of land located along the Eastern bye-pass, near Tsohon Damishi village, Chikun LGA, Kaduna State by unknown persons.

He said the appeal became necessary following the invasion of the said plots of land and the erection of pillars on it.

Omoyale said “it has become imperative to put an end to the reckless abuse of human rights by purported land grabbers that has resulted in the threat of public peace on different occasions”.

He explained further that his wife, “Mrs. Sambisi Owoyale bought the said plots of land and a confirmation letter that was signed by the Galadiman Gbagyi on 24 June 2014 in a letter dated the same date to the General Manager of Kaduna State Urban and Property Development Agency (KADSUPDA) for permission to develop it”.

According to him, he commenced the certification of the land from Kaduna State Geographical Information Service, KADGIS with file number 93157 with assurance that the certification is advancing in progress.

He expressed dismay over what seems to be unchecked activities of land grabbers in the state, saying “the situation has become worrisome as some people are parading themselves as officials of the Kaduna State Geographical Information Service, KADGIS to perpetuate mischievous acts”.

He lamented the frustration of the purpose of acquiring the land to build a school to benefit the Tsohon Damishi community.

Of recent and since the coming of the Senator Sani administration in Kaduna, there have been several reports of land grabbing activities by fraudulent individuals and groups impersonating Kaduna State geographic Information System KADGIS, carrying out illegal activities.

However since the sack of the former Director General Muhammed Falal and appointment of Bashir Garba Ibrahim, the of KADGIS, management is said to be working round the clock to curtail the activities of these fraudsters by putting in place a new identification to differentiate KADGIS staff from the fraudsters to checkmate the cases of land grabbing in the state.
